DockWise Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
DockWise ("DockWise," "we," "us," or "our") provides docking guidance, weather and sea-state information, and related marine navigation tools through our website and application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using DockWise, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a DockWise account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely and never in plain text). If you subscribe to DockWise Pro, our payment processor (see Section 5) collects billing information necessary to process your subscription.
Location Information
DockWise uses location data you provide — such as a marina address, dock location, or GPS coordinates — to generate docking guidance, wind analysis, and sea-state conditions. Location data you enter is used only to power the features you request (e.g., Today's Conditions, Compare Docks, Transient Dock lookup) and is stored as part of your account history so you can revisit past docks.
We do not track your device's real-time location in the background. Any location data is entered or selected by you within the app.
Weather and Marine Data
To generate docking recommendations, DockWise retrieves data from third-party weather and marine data providers, including sources such as NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) tidal, wind, and marine forecast data. This data is used solely to power the guidance shown to you and is not shared with third parties beyond what's necessary to retrieve it.
Usage and Analytics Information
We collect information about how you use DockWise — pages visited, features used, and general engagement patterns — to improve the Service. We use tools such as Meta Pixel and standard web analytics to understand traffic sources and app performance. This may include cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4).
Communications
If you contact us for support or submit an issue report, we collect the information you provide in that communication, including your email address and the content of your message.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Service, including generating docking, weather, and sea-state guidance
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, subscription receipts, and service updates)
- Respond to support requests and issue reports
- Improve and maintain the Service, including diagnosing technical issues
- Understand aggregate usage trends and marketing effectiveness
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Weather/API Providers
DockWise relies on third-party marine and weather data providers to generate the guidance shown in the app. These providers supply publicly available or licensed environmental data (such as wind, tide, and sea-state information) and do not receive any of your personal account information from us. Our use of this data is limited to generating the conditions and guidance you see in the app.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
DockWise uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in and maintain your session
- Remember preferences (such as interface settings)
- Measure site traffic and understand how visitors find and use DockWise, including through tools like Meta Pixel
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to stay logged in or use certain features of the Service.
5. Payment Processing
DockWise Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number or payment credentials on our servers — this information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with its own privacy policy and security standards (Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant). We receive limited billing information from Stripe necessary to manage your subscription, such as subscription status and payment history.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and dock history for as long as your account remains active, so that you can access your saved docks, past conditions, and subscription history. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal account data within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your information
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 9. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted password storage and secure data transmission. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Contact Information

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of DockWise after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
